Kevin Shih, Engineering Director
Preen (AC Power Corp.)’s domination in the power electronics space began with their inception in 1989 with the launch of the world’s first energy-saving static line conditioner, the APS series. Being only 1/4th the size and weight of conventional power conditioners, the novel APS series conditioner was a revolutionary offering. Since then, AC Power Corp. has been a symbol of excellence and innovation in the space who designed, manufactured and marketed highly efficient and utterly reliable power products to meet the booming needs of commercial, industrial and military mission-critical applications. “Being in the power electronics field for 30 years now, we have evolved over the years to be one of the leaders in the industry,” says Kevin Shih, the engineering director of Preen. Today, AC Power Corp. has become a household name when it comes to providing AC and DC power supplies, grid simulators, MIL-Standards compliant power supplies, ground power units, and line conditioners marketed globally under the brand name ‘Preen.’
Preen has three major product line— AC Power Source, DC Power Supply, and UPS & Voltage Regulator. On the AC Power Source side, the company offers a programmable AC power source with DC output and precision measurement, the AFV-P Series. It utilizes advanced PWM technology to deliver power with THD ≦ 0.5% and up to 2000kVA. Offered as a high power programmable AC power source, the AFV-P equipment can be used in home appliances, electronics, medical equipment, and lighting. Preen has also introduced its latest programmable DC power supply, ADG-L Series which have 14 models and three different output power, 4kW, 8 kW and 12 kW. The product uses PWM technology to deliver the stable output and precise measurement.

Known for its great response time, high accuracy and many output voltage and current combinations, ADG-L Series has been designed for the increasing demand of high power DC, and is ideal for testing EV’s motor/compressor, server power supply, fuse/circuit breaker/contactor, and PV inverter.
To further revolutionize the voltage regulator business and provide an alternate with surge protection function, Preen offers its inductive automatic voltage regulator—the APH Series. A cost-effective inductive type automatic voltage regulator, it can sustain impulse loads and has strong overload capability. These features make it widely applied in motor industries, CNC machines, transportation systems, production equipment, and factory for power conditioning purposes. “Applying electronic compensation design topology, the APS series can detect fluctuation on input voltage and compensate to provide pure and stable voltage,” mentions Mr. Shih. Applications include mobile/laptop SMT production lines, medical equipment, communication equipment, telecom stations, EMC test, and laboratory.
Through its three major product lines, Preen has indeed carved a unique niche for itself in the power electronics space and looks to conquer other geographical regions in the near future. “With corporate office located in Taipei, Taiwan, Preen has a total of three manufacturing facilities and multiple branch offices and service locations worldwide, including the U.S. office located in Irvine, CA. This enables us to provide customers with the most timely service and communication,” states Mr. Shih. The company will be augmenting its product line by introducing service and support capabilities such as software engineering, HMI, testing solutions, grid simulation, built-in testing standards, and will also be offering new products in the regenerative power supply arena.
